Jeff Alt is the author of A Walk For Sunshine ($15.95; ISBN-13: 978-0-9679482-2-5) 2nd edition, Dreams Shared Publications, September 2007. This new edition features an epilogue chapter focusing on life lessons he learned from his time on the trail and how he’s applied them to his life. He shares how walking the Appalachian Trail changed him, in profound, unique, and positive ways and how he has applied these lessons to his career, marriage, and raising his children. Jeff released his new book in celebration of the 10th annual Walk-With-Sunshine, inspired from his 2,160-mile Appalachian Trail journey, which has raised over $140,000 for the home where Jeff's brother with cerebral palsy lives.

Jeff Alt, has been featured on ESPN’s Inside America’s National Parks, Hallmark Channel's New Morning and more. His adventures have been widely featured in media across the country including dozens of television and radio programs (CNN-Radio, Good Day USA, KGO Radio, NPR etc). Jeff's books have been reviewed in Library Journal, Chicago Sun Times, and other leading review sources. Jeff has recently become a hiking contributor for the award-winning Great American Outdoor Trails Radio Magazine. Jeff's books combined have received four book awards (Forward Magazine Book of the Year Finalist, Notable Writers Notes Book Award, and a USA Best Books Award Finalist). Jeff has shared his Appalachian Trail adventures with Shenandoah National Park guests each season since 2001 in addition to hundreds of other venues across the country. Jeff has walked the 2,160-mile Appalachian Trail, the 218-mile John Muir Trail with his wife, and Jeff trekked across a 50 mile swath of Ireland last summer with his wife, young daughter, and extended family. Not only is Jeff an expert hiker, he is a certified speech language communication expert with ten years of experience working with children ages two and up; and with academic curriculum standards. As an outdoorsman, Jeff knows first hand the important role the outdoors plays in our lives. As a language expert, Jeff knows how critical it is to teach our children while they are young.
